Our team

Overview

Dr. Nestor Asiamah, FHEA is a dedicated Healthcare Academician and researcher in the Epidemiology, and Health and Social Care fields, an Assistant Professor and Co-Director of Postgraduate Research in Health and Social Care, at the University of Essex, UK. He also serves as the Executive Director and Principal Research Fellow at the Africa Centre for Epidemiology where he has led several international research projects. Nestor is a lecturer at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences, Germany, where he teaches epidemiology and related public health modules. 

His fondest hobbies – writing and playing with data – have enabled him to publish several papers in world-leading journals. Nestor is an academic editor for several journals (e.g., BMC Public Health, and PLoS ONE) and a reviewer for more than 30 top-tier journals, including The Lancet and Preventive Medicine. He is a regular book editor for Springer and now preparing to edit a new title with Elsevier. He has served as a consultant to the National Health Service and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK.

Nestor is the convenor of the International Sustainable Ageing Research Group (ISARG), a network of prolific researchers dedicated to healthy ageing research and advocacy. His research network is global and includes doctoral and postdoctoral mentees.   • Academic excellence government of Ghana scholarship, 2006-2009 Statistics Class, Accra Technical University. I was a lead recipient of this award after emerging as the best student in my class. 
  • Accra Technical University Hostel Scholarship 2006-2009. I was a lead recipient of this award after emerging as the best student in my class.  
  • Best Statistics student/graduate, 2009-year group, Accra Technical University. I received this award at graduation and after leading my class academically throughout my study. 
  • Best Statistics graduate with First Class Division, 2009-year group Accra Technical University. I was the only student who received this honour in a class of about 50 students and one of the very few to receive it since the department was established.  
  • Honoured by Scancom Ghana Limited (MTN) for managing its 2008 ‘Problem Discovery Survey’ in Accra Ghana
