BSBI students gain valuable insights from The Generator Berlin visit through EduVenture Experiences

As part of BSBI’s latest initiative, EduVenture Experiences, BSBI tourism students had the exciting opportunity to visit The Generator Berlin, one of the city’s most renowned hospitality establishments.

This hands-on experience offered students a glimpse into the day-to-day operations of a vibrant hostel, enriching their understanding of the tourism and hospitality industry in a real-world setting.

The visit provided students with an immersive look into how facilities like The Generator Berlin operate, covering everything from front desk services to housekeeping and management roles. By witnessing these different functions firsthand, students gained a deeper appreciation for the complexities involved in running a dynamic enterprise. They also developed essential skills, including communication, problem-solving and customer service, which are crucial for succeeding in the hospitality industry.

In addition to learning about the operational aspects of the hostel, the visit also served as an inspiration for students to explore innovative approaches to hospitality. It reinforced the importance of practical experience in shaping future careers and allowed students to reflect on potential career paths in the industry.

Special thanks to Professor Dr Kyriakos Kouveliotis FRSA, Provost and Chief Academic Officer, Dr Niloufar Aminpour, Head of English Department & Academic Initiatives Coordinator and Dr Kamilia Kentra, Lecturer for their invaluable support in organising this enriching experience. By offering opportunities like this, BSBI continues to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry practice, allowing students to learn beyond the classroom and equipping them with the practical skills to thrive in the tourism and hospitality sectors.

Gratitude is also extended to the management and staff at The Generator Berlin for their warm hospitality and professional welcome. Their insightful discussions and behind-the-scenes access gave students an in-depth understanding of the challenges and rewards of managing a successful hospitality business. After a day of learning, engagement and inspiration, the students left with a greater appreciation for the hospitality industry and renewed enthusiasm for their studies. Future opportunities will continue to shape BSBI students into future leaders in the tourism and hospitality sectors.
