Provost’s Roundtable | The Future of Healthcare After the Era of COVID-19

On Monday 22 May, the Berlin School of Business and Innovation organised its latest Provost’s Roundtable to discuss “The Future of Healthcare After the Era of COVID-19”.

For the first time, the latest roundtable featured panel members from the institution’s academic team with expertise in various fields along with external guests from fields such as information technology, finance, healthcare systems, and human resource management resulting in an engaging and informative discussion.

The discussion was moderated by Professor Dr Kyriakos Kouveliotis, Provost & Chief Academic Officer, with internal guests Dr Duraisamy Balaganesh, IT expert and lecturer; Dr (MD) Ahmed ElBarawi, lecturer and Executive Assistant of the Provost; Dr Palanivel Rathinasabapathi Velmurugan, lecturer and finance and economics expert; and Mr Thomas Gansemer,  Head of Human Resources at BSBI. External guests included Dr Nadiah Hanie, Licensed General Practitioner in Germany, Dr Marwa Byaly from the Public Health Industry, and Ms Saba Shakalio, Sports Physiotherapist creating a diverse panel.

The panel assessed the impact of COVID-19 on various industries and sectors, how the financial situation changed and affected the world, how the emergence of the IT sector and AI solutions are bringing in more feasible and effective solutions to society, and how the healthcare sector was able to cope with the sudden change and demand. Panel members also discussed the impact of COVID-19 on the employee and employer relationship as well as the future of the healthcare industry and what we should expect from it.

Professor Kouveliotis said: “It has been a great pleasure for me to chair the panel. It was also amazing to discuss with fellow academics, practitioners, and scientists what is going to be the future of healthcare and comment on what the recent pandemic taught us for the future. One thing is certain, we are now much more prepared and wiser to tackle any similar challenge. Looking forward to welcoming you all to the next one, again with a topic that will focus on a contemporary issue.”

The event was streamed live on YouTube.
